SOS Children’s Villages is a politically and religiously independent organization that follows the UN convention on the rights of the child. Stadium sponsors SOS Children’s Villages and supports the organization’s social center i n Chittagong, Bangladesh. Like many other companies in the textile business, Stadium has production in Bangladesh, a country where many children live in poverty. With the center in Chittagong, SOS Children’s Villages help s disadvantaged families become self-sufficient so the children can attend school and eat proper meals every day.

We are committed to improving cotton farming practices globally with the Better Cotton Initiative.

It goes without saying that the products sold at Stadium should be manufactured fairly . This is why we support the work of Fairtrade, and we are proud that all of our own soccer balls , handballs and beach volleyballs carry the Fairtrade label. When our customer s choose products that carry the Fairtrade label, we make a difference for the employees of our suppliers.

As one of the largest sports retailers in the Nordic region , we have a responsibility to make sure that the products we sell are made in conditions that are fair for not only the workers but also the environment and the society we all share. This goes for our own brands as well as brands from external suppliers. Since we are a sports retailer, it is easy to draw parallels with the world of sports – we want to stick to the rules and play a fair game. This philosophy is something we demand from all of our business partners .

Energy is something that those of us here at Stadium only waste when working out. That is why we are rebuilding all of our stores to be more energy efficient. As a result of the changes we have made , energy consumpti on in our stores ha s been reduced by up to 60%.

We actively work to exclude from our production any chemicals or substances that are allergenic, carcinogenic or have a negative impact on the environment. We follow, and will always follow, the recommended limits set out in the European chemical legislation , REACH*, and work together with our suppliers to minimize the use of hazardous chemicals. By staying up-to-date on current legislature, we can act quickly to phase out chemicals from our production that are harmful to humans or the environment.

In 2014, Stadium signed the Accord – an initiative for the purpose of creating safer and better work environments for textile factory workers in Bangladesh. The Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh (the Accord) is an independent, legally binding agreement between global brands designed to enable a working environment in which no worker needs to fear building collapses, fires or other accidents that can be prevented with the right safety measures.

Reducing water usage in textile production is one of the biggest challenges for the retail industry. That is why Stadium is a contributing member of the Sweden Textile Water Initiative. It is a unique cooperation between Swedish brands and retailers in the textile and leather businesses and the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), which focuses on new solutions and technologies for minimizing water and chemical use in production. The initiative collaborates with governments and academic institutions in five countries and works with 119 factories around the world.

Minimizing the impact on the environment is a big challenge for all textile manufacturers. One way we do this a t Stadium is to use Solution Dye, a special technique used to dye fabric for clothing.

Stadium’s business idea is to offer sports and sports fashion products that focus on functionality, design and quality at the best price. Stadium is a sports retailer and our assortment is reflective of a positive , compassionate view of life.

Do not throw away sport. We accept all products – worn out, broken or scruffy – and ensure that they are sent for recycling or to be re-used. A small effort on your part could make a crucial difference to somebody who really needs it. 

We place very stringent safety demands on our products for children. Part of our assortment is designed especially for children and follows EU directives (EN 14682:2014) for child - safe products. Our clothes for children must naturally also live up to our own standards on features and functionality, durability and safety.  Therefore, we always conduct a general risk assessment o f our products to guarantee that the health and safety of children who wear our clothing are not compromised. One example of this is that the hoods on all jackets and overalls for children are detachable .

One of the largest negative e ffects the textile business has on the environment comes from logistics . We have therefore placed high demands on our transports, and together with the Swedish Transport Administration and other retail companies agreed to meet a minimum standard in the following areas:

At Stadium, we work hard to make sure our production has as little impact on the environment as possible. As a customer, you can help, too, since a garment affects the environment throughout its entire life cycle .

Creating a sustainable world is very much a team effort, and that is why we are on a number of projects in co-operation with organizations that share our values and promote progressive changes in our trade and society alike.
